We are talking about heading to Joplin, MO later to help with rebuilding after their tornado. DH is a self employed contractor who has construction experience.
With DH deployed, I am working working working all summer–but I AM planning a vacation 🙂 Our honeymoon 🙂 We get to take it after he comes home in November 🙂
We get luck and don’t have to go anywhere during the summer to spend time together. My DH’s mom takes the kids for a few weeks in July. They live in AL. The first 2 weeks in August my mom and dad take our kid. They live in FL. We live in NC.
We went on a family/friends vacation in May. It wasn’t exactly beach weather on the East Coast but it was a lot of fun and very relaxing. The two couples we went with were both pregnant, so they went to bed early each night which left my husband and I a lot of free time alone and with a hot tub haha!
Well, other than work, work, working… the birth of our first daughter is in our summer plans as well. 😀
Our baby is due in the summer as well. Fortunately as I work in a school I will be off for a month beforehand and will be able to spend time relaxing and preparing and trying to spend time with DH before there’s a distraction!
We are going to Disney this month, and then the kids and I will be going in July with my parents for a long weekend. We also plan to take the kids to the beach sometime for another long weekend.
I will be working this summer. I used to adjust my work schedule so that it was lighter in the summer, but now that our youngest is 17, drives, and has a job, I don’t feel the need to do that. We usually take a beach vacation at the end of July – beginning of August, and I hope we will do that this year. Sometimes we go for a week, but often for 4-5 days, then spend the rest of the week at home. We need to wait and see how our budget is holding up this year, though. Youngest son hopes to play college in soccer and needs some camp/club/team experiences this summer and fall to improve his chances. And, of course, all of those things cost $$$!

Our 2nd anniversary is in July, so we plan to taking a weekend getaway.
