Proverbs 16:9–In his heart, a man plots his course, but the LORD determines his steps.
This has been my life verse for years. As a very control-oriented person (and uber planner) this is always a humbling reminder for me that everything is in God’s hands, no matter what planning I do!
As a military wife this verse comforts me more than any other
Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
My health may fail and my spirit may grow weak but GOD remains the strength of my heart. HE is mine forever! Psalms 73:26
I have multiple sclerosis and when I get down I just remeber this verse. The Lord has blessed me with an awesome DH that is there with me through good and bad. May 1 we will have been married 25 years. God bless
Philippians 2:15 – I think it’s a great description of what we are called to be as Christians: “in a dark and depraved world to shine like stars in the universe.” I have “Philippians 2:15” with stars tattooed on my right hip and I discovered later that my husband (before he was my husband) wrote a worship song based on this verse.

in the past 4 1/2 years, our youngest was diagnosed with cancer, had a lung hemmorage and stroke. she was 14. the day we took her to the ER and the journey started my husband that morning had resigned his job with a major fortune 500 company to start our own little medical supply company. my 16 and 18 yr olds, had to grow up fast and have struggled with a very difficult life since. my youngest is cancer free, but paralyzed and struggling with her life and loss and lack of hope. our company is ekking by, and my eldest turned to drugs and my middle child is trying to go to college and recently broke up with her boyfriend of 3 1/2 years.
it feels like we are in the midst a hurricane. this verse helps put me in the eye of the storm. the chaos may be going on around us, but God holds me close and in quiet. only He will get us thru and help us complete the mighty journey we are on…i am so thankful i am not alone and i have His strength!
Psalm 77:14
You are the God who performs miracles; you display your power among the peoples.
“We all stumble in many ways.” James 3:2.
Whenever I’m tempted to judge someone, I remember that verse.
1 Corinthians 1:27-29
But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and the things which are not, to bring to nought things that are:
That no flesh shall glory in his presence.
Philippians 4:6-7 (because I NEED to hear this every day!)
6 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns.7 Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.
Ooh, that’s a toughy… Recently it has been Gal.1:10(ESV) “I am not trying to please people. I want to please God. Do you think I am trying to please people? If I were doing that, I would not be a servant of Christ.”
“Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable-if anything is excellent or praiseworthy-think about such things.” Philippians 4:8
“The Spirit of the Sovereign Lord is upon me, for the Lord has anointed me to bring good news to the poor. He has sent me to comfort the brokenhearted and to proclaim that captives will be released and prisoners will be freed. He has sent me to tell those who mourn that the time of the Lord’s favor has come, and with it, the day of God’s anger against their enemies. To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” – Isaiah 61:1-3 / I am a survivor of childhood rape and this verse is a wonderful reminder to me of God’s gracious mercy in healing me so that I can enjoy life in general as well as my sex life. I just wish that all survivors would have hope that Jesus heals and frees and genuinely offers beauty for ashes. I’m living proof that God can and does still perform miracles!
“Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my ayoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11-30)”
Jesus is best doctor I ever had as I have laid all my burdens at His feet. He knows how to comfort me because He has experienced all my sins, weaknesses, sufferings and afflictions while He was in the Garden of Gethsemane. My trust in the Lord is a great help to me. He is a great Comforter. He helps to see others as children of God even if some of them made me suffer sometimes in my life.
“Show me your ways. O’ Lord, guide me in Your truth and teach me” Psalms 25: 4-5
I pray everyday for God’s guidance and wisdom in every area of my life, and that he would change and teach me and make me more and more like Him.
John 16:33
“These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you might have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.”
whatever you have done for the least of these you have also done for me. Matthew 25:40
Galations 5:22-23 But the fruit of the Spirt is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
prov. 3:5 – 6
trust in the lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. in all your ways acknowledge him and he will make your paths straight.
I think it’s kinda cool that so many of us quoted verses in Philippians!
But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. Matthew 6:33-34
I love this whole passage where Jesus is pointing out how God provides for all of creation and reminds us that God will take care of us too. I don’t need to worry about tomorrow, He’s got it all under control.
Isaiah 40:31
But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength: They shall mount up with wings like eagles.
Mine is John 3:16. I love the good news.
For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life.
I have two:
Old Testament…. Exodus 4:13….But he [Moses] said “Oh, my Lord, please send someone else to do it.”… Love that one of our great fathers of faith didn’t want to accept the Lord’s task. Great reminder of human frailty and God’s power. Also a wonderful reminder that we can tell our Lord anything.
New Testament… 2 Corinthians 12:9… Paul speaking of his vision…But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” I need the constant reminder, both in Paul’s “thorn” that he speaks of prior to that verse and to rest in grace, because it is sufficient. Such a powerful truth, so hard to live.
